Teachers Speak Out – Urging the General Assembly to Sign Proposed Budget
November 21, 2019
Teachers lined Garrett Road on Wednesday from 8:00-8:15 a.m. to take a stand and voice their opinions, urging the North Carolina General Assembly to sign the proposed budget. The proposed budget would raise both teacher pay and public school funding, among other things. Jordan teachers and administrators of a range of ages and from many different subject areas took to the sidewalk with handmade signs and original chants. Cars passing by honked their horns in support, showing teachers that they are not alone in this fight.
Take a look inside the teacher’s walk-in with a photo essay by Jackson Vaughn. To get more information on why the teachers staged this walk-in, read Luke Jackson’s article, “Teachers Plan to Demonstrate Wednesday to Push for New Budget,” posted earlier this week on the Falcon Post.
