65-0, 70-0 yes, these are Jordan football scores. The Falcons recent success has left everyone wondering: is the Jordan Football team having their best season yet? In previous years the Falcons suffered more losses than they did wins, until this year. From barely being able to string together multiple wins in a row, to ending the regular season 7-3; what has changed? The answer? New coaches, new transfers, and a new ambition that's allowing the team to prosper like never before.
Jordan is picking up where they left off in last year's playoffs. Making it to the third round for the first time since 2005, the falcons lost a tough game to a talented New Bern squad by just 5 points. “It put a bad taste in our mouth which is why we’re so vengeful this year,” says Nick Brye, a Wide Receiver.
The overall drive for redemption, coupled with new coaches and players have put Jordan on the winning track, one that hopefully leads them deep into the playoffs.
One evident reason for the success of the falcons has been the coaching. “The coaches expect way more of us and hold us to a high standard” explains Nick Brye. Multiple players also claim that the coaches have instilled a work ethic that pushes them to work harder and put in more energy. Additionally, the team says they feel an almost “bloodline-like connection” to their coaches. Val Batta (#16, Wide Receiver) said “They actually teach us the game” which has been a crucial part of this season's wins.
In addition to these changes, animosity on social media between teams in anticipation of games has fueled the team’s drive to win and created a source of humor for the team and fans. Students post memes referencing transfers, and other team’s stats in an attempt to intimidate the competition. Our team gained players from both Chapel Hill and Riverside, leading their teams to poke fun at their former teammates who are now opponents. Unfortunately for Chapel Hill and Riverside alike, their memes are fueling the Falcons determination to beat them, apparent in their 65-0 victory at Chapel Hill, and in their domination of the Pirates by 70 unanswered points.

The Falcons now look to echo the changes evident throughout the program as they enter the first round of state playoffs as the 19 seed. This group of players and their fans are hungry for an upset against a 14 seeded Holly Springs team today!
