Student Government Current Activities

As the winter months approach, the committees within student government have been working hard to set up festive decorations, winter-themed events, and prepare for upcoming sports games.

Student Feedback

The newest committee, Student Feedback, is currently planning a winter spirit week and a day where a Christmas movie will be shown during lunches that students can attend. Student Feedback plans to get students more involved in student government and school activities in general. With winter and Christmas themed activities, Student Feedback hopes to see positive reactions from students.

Sports Planning

Since winter sports are just beginning, the Sports Planning committee has been especially busy with organizing fun activities for the sports games. To encourage more student attendance for winter sports, especially for basketball, Sports Planning has been focusing on adding fun themes for games, halftime performances, and accessories to give out. Increased attendance in sports games will help promote school spirit, one of the goals the Sports Planning committee hopes to accomplish.

Beautifications 

Beautifications has been focusing on Thanksgiving-themed decorations to put up around the school. During the previous meeting, they finished creating the Turkey mural and are ready to hang it up. It was created with red, brown, and yellow paper and students were asked to write what they were thankful for on the feathers. Holiday-themed decorations have always been a specialty of the Beautifications committee. By producing decorations around the school following the seasonal themes, the Beautifications committee aspires to encourage seasonal spirit among Jordan students.

Planning

The Planning committee has been working on various winter activities for students. With the gift-giving season approaching, a toy drive is being planned. The Planning committee hopes to see winter school spirit, and  they have been working on setting up a student vs. teacher basketball game and a winter pep rally to achieve this. Even if these don’t end up happening, the Planning committee will use these ideas to help them set goals for the future.

Communications

In accordance with all the activities going on within the school, Communications is currently focusing on sending out information for winter events. With the toy drive coming up, Communications hopes to send out information regarding deadlines, what type of toys to donate, and where to bring them. Along with sports planning, Communications has also been focusing on preparing for the winter sports season. The Communications team has been working on themes, sending out information for games, and creating posts for the basketball season.
