This is not a drill: Fire in the boys’ bathroom

At the beginning of third period on December 5th, class at Jordan was interrupted by the fire alarm. As students filed out of the building, word began to spread about a fire in the boys’ bathroom.

Before the alarm sounded, a student told Mr. Bernhard there was a fire in the upstairs restroom across from his classroom, room 202. “I went in and the toilet paper dispenser was on fire,” he said. Bernhard added that the fire was put out in minutes, but the bathroom will be closed for the foreseeable future.

Students coming out of the 200s hall said they smelled smoke before they exited the building. They had to wait outside for forty minutes while the fire department ensured students could safely return to class.

The investigation relating to the bathroom fire is ongoing.
