The first round of the playoffs of the WNBA’s 28th season just concluded with the top four seeds sweeping their opponents. The semi-finals begin on Sunday, September 29th with a finals rematch between the New York Liberty (1) and the Las Vegas Aces (4), and a matchup between the Minnesota Lynx (2) and the Connecticut Sun (3). The Minnesota Lynx won the Commissioner’s Cup Championship, the WNBA’s in-season tournament, 94-89 against the New York Liberty on June 25th.

The first round of the WNBA playoffs is played in a best of three format, with the first two games being at the home of the higher seed.
Recap of the First Round:
Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty (1) take down the Atlanta Dream (8)–83-69, 91-82.
The Minnesota Lynx (2) defeat the Phoenix Mercury (7) to potentially end Diana Taurasi’s Hall of Fame career–102-95, 101-88.
The Connecticut Sun (3) end Caitlin Clark’s Rookie of the Year season, sweeping the Indiana Fever (6)–93-69, 87-81.
Three-time MVP A’ja Wilson and the reigning champions Las Vegas Aces (4) eliminated the Seattle Storm (5)–78-67, 83-76.
The second round of the playoffs will be played in a best of five format. The higher seeded teams will have home court advantage for the first, second, and fifth games of the series. Will it be the Liberty or the Aces making it back to the finals? Are the Lynx the true best team in the league?
Watch game one of the Aces versus Liberty on ABC at 3:00 PM and game one of the Sun versus Lynx on ESPN at 8:30 PM this Sunday.
